UP Manila Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UPM-TTBDO)
Before Republic Act 10055 was enacted, intellectual property rights and related activities were managed by the Intellectual Property Office (IPO), under the Chief of the University of the Philippines Manila Legal Office. The University of the Philippines underwent restructuring following the promulgation of the Philippine Technology Transfer Act of 2009. In 2011, UP revised its Intellectual Property Policy to align with the governing law. Within the next year, the University of the Philippines System Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (TTBDO) was created, replacing the Technology Licensing Office.
Because of the organizational changes at the UP System- level and in recognition of the expanding role of an IPO in the university, UP Manila moved to create the UPM Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UPM TTBDO), to manage intellectual property, innovation, and technology transfer in the campus. With the approval of the UP Board of Regents, UPM TTBDO was established in August 28, 2015.
